Notably, these hashes from my own backup exactly match the Hive's Patch 1.29.2 backup in every way (except that I don't have a bncache.dat file). That means the 6 item slots aren't hardcoded at all and they've changed it in the past.

I'm gonna see if the betas support -loadfile to start a map in singleplayer without any hacks. However there is a nice list of all known beta versions and a tool to play the beta versions on a custom PvPGN server (is it the correct name?)
